JYSK reaches milestone in Poland

On Friday, 14 October, JYSK opens store number 200 in Poland.

A part of the explanation for the sustained progress in JYSK is that the company regularly expands its presence to new countries, which means that JYSK is now present in 44 countries.

However, it is equally crucial to increase the number of stores and thus the turnover in the countries where JYSK has been for years.

Therefore it is an important event when JYSK opens a new city store in Jarocin on October 14th, as this which will be store number 200 in Poland.

Poland will thus become the first country in the world with 200 stores displaying the JYSK logo on the facade.

- This makes us very proud and it means a lot to JYSK. Poland and the other Eastern European countries is the part of Europe where we are experiencing the highest growth, and I am pleased that the attitude towards JYSK in general is very positive. That is very much the case in Poland as well, says CEO of JYSK Nordic, Jan Bøgh.

He emphasises that part of the reason for JYSK’s great success is that the chain also opens stores in smaller cities with merely 20,000 or 30,000 inhabitants, giving citizens in provincial areas easy access to Scandinavian products.

More stores to come

And JYSK has no intention of slowing down the expansion in Poland, even though the chain’s stores can be found throughout the country.

- Poland is a country with a population of nearly 40 million people, so we believe that there is room for plenty more JYSK stores. Store number 200 is a milestone which our colleagues in Poland should be very proud to have reached. However, it is not the finish line, and we must continue our hard work towards store number 300, says Jan Bøgh.

In order to achieve this JYSK must maintain focus on the Scandinavian management style which is a part of what makes JYSK very special in Poland.

- The Scandinavian management style separates us as a company from the rather tough management style which is more traditional in Poland. That makes JYSK a popular company to work in, and we have many employees who have been with us since we first entered Poland, myself included, says Country Manager, Piotr Padalak.

JYSK has approximately 1,800 employees in Poland where the company besides its stores and a local head office also owns a large distribution centre in the city Radomsko. The distribution centre in Radomsko distributes products to JYSK stores in Poland and other Eastern European countries.
