Press release -
Record turnover in JYSK Nordic
JYSK Nordic, running 1,249 stores in 20 countries, today announced a record turnover of 2.16 billion EUR for the financial year 2017/18 (FY18).
Establishing 82 new stores, gaining 6.7 million additional customers, and reaching an all-time high turnover of 2.16 billion EUR, FY18 was a very satisfying year in JYSK Nordic, which is running 1.249 JYSK stores in 20 countries.
Especially the significant increase of customers is noticed by CEO and President of JYSK Nordic, Jan Bøgh.
”We have once again proven that there is still a lot of potential in attracting more customers to our physical stores. Therefore the opening of new stores will continue to be an important part of our strategy, while simultaneously developing our online platform to offer our customers as many possibilities and as much flexibility as possible,” says Jan Bøgh.
He finds joy in the fact that the increasing number of customers in FY18 has been a combination of additional customers in JYSK’s physical stores and new online customers.
”I have no doubt that the future winners in retail will be the companies that are able to combine the different sales channels in a way that gives the best possible customer journey. This is something JYSK has been working with for a number of years, but we are far from done, and we will of course keep working on making it even better and more convenient,” says Jan Bøgh.
Massive investments
And JYSK will continue to invest in developing all parts of the business.
”In our latest financial year, we introduced a new store concept, which our customers have received very well, and we will continue rebuilding and modernising our stores to become even more inspiring to our customers. We have also made major investments in our logistics set-up, and during FY18, we finished the expansion of our distribution centre in Uldum in Denmark, and soon we will start using our brand new distribution centre currently under construction in Bulgaria,” says Jan Bøgh, and continues:
”A modern and effective logistics set-up and the ability to deliver quickly to both our stores and directly to our customers are crucial to our success. Therefore the major investments, which we have made in our distribution centres, is extremely important.”
Focus on employees
Furthermore he points to the employees as an area where JYSK needs to keep focus on development.
”One of the reasons JYSK is doing well is of course that we see a growing economy in the countries where our stores are located. This also means that the unemployment rates are very low, and there is a lot of competition to attract the best employees. This means that we need to keep focus on recruiting and developing our employees to ensure that JYSK is an attractive employer, and that we are able to retain the great people that have been part of making our success,” says Jan Bøgh.
