JYSK expands in Türkiye and plans to double number of stores
JYSK has just opened its first store outside of Istanbul in Bursa, located in the Marmara region. In line with its strategy to be Customer’s first choice, JYSK is accelerating its expansion across Türkiye and plans to double the number of stores during the current financial year of 2025/26.
Since entering the Turkish market in May 2023, JYSK has successfully established seven stores in Istanbul. The opening of the eighth store in Bursa shows the retailer’s commitment to reaching new regions and customers with a great Scandinavian offer within sleeping and living.
“We are excited to bring JYSK to Bursa. This opening is a milestone in our journey to make our products accessible to more customers across Türkiye. We hope the people of Bursa will appreciate our great offers within furniture, homeware and sleeping. All of which bring inspiration from our Scandinavian roots,” says Fatih Tezcan, Country Director for JYSK Türkiye.
The new store, located at Bursa AS Outlet Shopping Centre, opened on 13 November and spans at total of 730 square metres. The opening was celebrated with speeches and music, as Country Director Fatih Tezcan cut the ribbon alongside Store Manager Ekrem Özdemir, officially welcoming customers to experience JYSK’s wide range of products for every room in the home and garden.
JYSK is doubling the number of stores in Türkiye
Türkiye has shown strong potential for JYSK, with the number of customers and sales performance already matching levels seen in European markets. To support the expansion in Türkiye, JYSK is planning to open seven additional stores by the end of August 2026, bringing the total to 15 stores.
“Turkish customers really love Scandinavian design. Our number of transactions is above average, and the number of units sold per customer exceeds European benchmarks, especially within furniture and homeware,” says Fatih Tezcan.
The upcoming store openings will focus on the west coast of Türkiye, including cities such as Izmir, Aydın, and Tekirdağ. These coastal regions represent a different market dynamic compared to Istanbul, with higher potential for garden products and furnishing for summer homes.
Investing in people
JYSK’s growth in Türkiye also leads to expansion of the teams. From 120 employees today, the local organisation expects to grow to more than 200 employees in the near future.
“Our people are at the heart of everything we do. Beyond finding the right store locations, we are focused on recruiting colleagues who can inspire customers and help them find the right solutions. We offer internal career development opportunities and are committed to building a strong, motivated team,” says Fatih Tezcan.
