With a change from plastic packaging to cardboard bellybands on ready-made curtains, JYSK will save another 78 tonnes of plastic every year. The change is part of JYSK’s strategic work to reduce the use of plastic.
On 2 April 2024, it is 45 years since Lars Larsen, also known as the Tradesman, opened the first JYSK store in Denmark. Five years later, he also opened in Germany, which has since grown to be the largest market for JYSK.

For the financial year 2022/23 (FY23), JYSK reached an EBIT result of DKK 3.96 billion (EUR 531 million) and increased its turnover by 6.3% to DKK 38.5 billion (EUR 5.2 billion.) The global home furnishing retailer continued its expansion plans and welcomed over 1.2 million new customers to its stores despite the slowdown in the global retail market.
The global retail company JYSK will present five employees from two different countries in new recruitment materials launching in spring 2024.
The turnover for JYSK increased by 6.3 percent reaching DKK 38.5 billion (EUR 5.2 billion) for the financial year 2022/23, setting a new record for the global home furnishing company.
Since 2015, Carsten Nørgreen Weinkouff has worked continuously on improving customers’ shopping experience in JYSK’s stores. Now, in his new role as Executive Vice President, he wants to do even more testing to increase sales and commercial attractiveness further.
On 28 August 2023, there is exactly one year to go until the Paralympics 2024 in Paris. JYSK kicks off the countdown with a campaign called “Everyone can succeed”.

For several years, JYSK has sold GRS certified products with recycled materials, and with a GRS certification as a company, the international home furnishing retailer now increases the focus on this work.
One year after a JYSK store in Ukraine was hit by a missile attack, the store has now been rebuilt and reopened on Thursday 11 May 2023.
Continuing the expansion to new markets, JYSK will open its first two stores in Türkiye in the first week of May 2023.
JYSK has appointed Signe Lind Jacobsen as new Executive Vice President and CFO for the Scandinavian sleeping and living retail company. Her first day at work will be on 1 August 2023.
In March 2023, all ergonomic pillows in the WELLPUR assortment by JYSK will be launched in stores and online with improved packaging and production that saves millions of plastic handles and metal zippers every year.
For the financial year 2021/22, JYSK reached its highest EBIT result to date of DKK 4.56 billion (EUR 612 million) and increased turnover by 11% to DKK 36.2 billion (EUR 4.87 billion). However, the retail chain is now seeing the first signs of a slowdown in sales due to global challenges.
With a growth of 11 percent, the total turnover for the financial year 2021/22 sets a new record in JYSK, even though a long list of global factors have challenged the business.
